Our swabable valve sampling adapters enable quick and easy removal of liquid product samples from a closed system in order to use these samples for quality controls purposes. Due to the design of the sampling adapters, contamination or impurities can be effectively avoided during sampling and representative results can be achieved. The swabable valves consist of a polycarbonate housing and a silicone membrane and are ideally suited for biopharmaceutical processes.
Swabable Valves
Description
Swabable Valves for Sampling
The swabable valve adapters have a hose barb on one side, to which a product-carrying tubing is connected, and a female Luer connection on the other side, the opening of which is sealed with a silicone membrane. This membrane is slit in the middle and is sealed in its normal state so that no liquid can escape. If a suitable Luer counterpart is screwed to the adapter, the silicone membrane opens and releases the product flow. This allows samples to be taken from a closed system without the product coming into contact with the environment. Especially in combination with Luer syringes, precisely dosed quantities of fluid can be taken and processed. Of course, the adapters can also be used to inject something into the product flow.
To minimize the risk of contamination and ensure process integrity, it is recommended to disinfect the silicone membrane before connecting the counterpart. A sterilized cloth with alcohol can be used for this purpose, for example.
As Luer connections are a standardized connection system, the swabable valves are compatible with all standard male Luer connections. A Luer connection always consists of a male and female adapter. A connection is made by screwing these two parts together with a half turn. The great advantage of this type of connection is that it is easy to use and can be assembled and disassembled quickly.
The swabable valve sampling adapters with Luer connection and hose barb are available in three different sizes. The standardized Luer connection is always the same size, only the hose barb varies.
· Swabable Valve with 3,2 mm Hose Barb
· Swabable Valve with 4,8 mm Hose Barb
· Swabable Valve with 6,4 mm Hose Barb
A further adapter with a male luer instead of a hose barb is also available. This allows Luer components to be connected on both sides, making the sampling adapter particularly flexible to use.
The swabable valves are suitable for gamma irradiation and are therefore an excellent way of taking product samples quickly and easily, particularly in single-use assemblies. They are produced under GMP conditions in an ISO 13485-compliant and FDA-approved production facility.
