MicroCNX Sterile Connectors

MicroCNX sterile connectors are a development of the manufacturer CPC and enable the sterile connection of tubes with small diameters. The MicroCNX were specially developed for applications in biopharmaceutical process technology and cell and gene therapies and represent a modern alternative to the complex process of tube welding.

Description

Information about MicroCNX Sterile Connectors

The MicroCNX sterile connectors have a connection for tubing on one side. Tubing with an inner diameter of 1.6 mm to 3.2 mm can be connected, making this sterile connector more suitable for applications with low volumes and flow rates. On the other side is the coupling half, which is used to close the sterile connection. Two pieces of the MicroCNX are needed to close a sterile connection. The connector uses a genderless design where both couplings are identical. This eliminates the need to stock two different coupling parts and only one type of component is needed.

The operation of the MicroCNX sterile connectors is simple and intuitive. First, the protective cover is pressed together and removed from each of the two coupling halves. Then the two MicroCNX are pushed into each other and connected. It is important to ensure that the membrane paper of both couplings is oriented to the same side. The correct connection of the two halves is confirmed by a clicking sound. Now the membrane paper can be pulled out, to close the sterile connection. With these three simple steps, a connection of two sterile tubing assemblies can be made within a few seconds. Once the connection is closed, the two halves cannot be separated, protecting the integrity of the entire system and preventing external contamination.

Sterile connectors of the MicroCNX series are suitable for both, pre-sterilization by autoclaving and gamma irradiation. Sterilization by gamma irradiation can be performed at up to 50 kGy. Autoclave sterilization can be performed at up to +130 °C for 60 minutes. This allows high flexibility in process design and use of the couplings.

The housing of the MicroCNX is made of polycarbonate material and the seal is made of silicone. The materials are extensively tested and certified and you will receive a batch-related certificate of conformance with each delivery. Further documentation can be provided on request.

Of course, the MicroCNX can also already be installed in customized single-use systems and delivered ready-to-use. The systems are manufactured in our own ISO Class 7 clean room, giving you the perfect solution for your individual process requirements. Simply send us an inquiry and our technical contact persons will get in touch with you immediately.
