A Luer-connection always consists of a male and a female adapter. These are commonly described as “Male Luer” and “Female Luer”. In order to close the Luer-connection, take both parts and screw them together with half a turn. The big advantage of this type of connector is the easy handling, which allows a quick assembling and disassembling.

Luer-Locks are available with hose barbs in sizes from 1/16” to 1/4″ and are typically used for small flow rates and volumes.

For easier identification, a range of Luer-Locks with colored nut are available. This can same time when identifying the correct connection port and minimized potential errors due to false connections. Besides the male and female luer, there are also luer caps and plugs available. These can be used to close the luer adapters and avoid spillage of liquids.

As with our tubing connectors, the luer-fittings are available in many different materials. This assures that for every process, the ideally suited material can be chosen. Most commonly, the materials polypropylene and PVDF are being used, because they have a large field of application and good chemical resistance. Both materials are FDA and USP Class VI compliant, free of animal derived components, additives or adhesives. All Luer-Lock fittings are being produced in an ISO certified cleanroom and have very low particulates. For each shipment, you will receive a batch related certificate of conformance, which will provide further information regarding the material conformities.

Additionally, there a Luer fittings made of thermoplastic elastomer, CrystalVu, Medical Nylon and Natural Nylon available. Further information regarding each of these materials can be found in the product catalogue.
