Steam-Thru Connector Details

The Steam-Thru Connector contain three connections each. One connection is used for the link to the existing stainless-steel equipment, e.g. a vessel. The second connection is needed for the link to the tubing for the steam-sterilization exhaust. On the third connection a ready-to-use and usually gamma-sterilized Single-Use system is pre-installed for the continuing flow of the product. The crossing to the Single-Use system is closed and also sealed in the initial setting. Then the SIP-Cycle starts to sterilize the stainless-steel equipment and the crossing to the Steam-Thru by hot steam. After the cycle is completed the Steam-Thru can be activated and to open the flow path from the vessel (or pipe) to the Single-Use Assembly. All components are sterile inside at this point and the process can continue. 

The Steam-Thru II offers the possibility to reset its position for another SIP-Cycle for sterilization of the equipment after the transfer is completed. 

The Steam-Thru and also the Steam-Thru II are made of polysulfone. This material has been tested exceedingly and is well certified. It is free of animal derived components and also conform to USP Class VI. The documents of validation are available on request. Each Steam-Thru Connector is produced and packed within a certified ISO clean room of class 7. To guarantee the best possible quality, every piece underlies strict security checks. 

Due to the unique and patent-registered design of the Steam-Thru Connector it has a unique selling proposition not only in pharmaceutical, but also biotechnological processes. They are the only component allowing a secure sterilization by steam of stainless-steel and also plastic equipment, as well as the following transfer of liquids in a pre-sterilized Single-Use system.
