PharmaLok Clamp

The PharmaLok sanitary clamp is made of robust, glass fiber-reinforced nylon and is both autoclavable and suitable for gamma irradiation. It can withstand autoclave cycles of up to 30 minutes at 134 °C and gamma radiation doses of up to 50 kGy.

The material is USP Class VI and ISO 10993 compliant, making it ideal for pharmaceutical and biotechnological processes. The PharmaLok clamp is available in three different colors, so that different lines and process sections can be highlighted in color and identification is simplified.

The use of a plastic sanitary clamp instead of a conventional stainless-steel clamp, especially in combination with other plastic components or complete single-use systems, results in a number of advantages. For example, the PharmaLok clamp is significantly lighter and can also be used in sections that cannot be additionally supported. In combination with components made of polycarbonate or polysulfone, the risk of damage due to excessive tightening torque, which can easily occur with stainless steel clamps, is completely eliminated. The components are therefore optimally protected and process integrity is guaranteed.

The PharmaLok clamp is fixed by using a ratchet and not a wing nut, as is the case with most other Tri-Clamp clamps. This makes handling considerably easier, saves time during assembly and also ensures that the connection is always fixed with a constant tightening torque. No tools are required for assembly and the clamp can be easily attached with one hand. A clearly audible click indicates that the connection has been closed correctly and is now ready for use.

To further increase process reliability after assembly and prevent unintentional opening of the connection, the PharmaLok clamp can be secured using a cable tie. After fixing the connection, a cable tie is simply pushed through two eyelets provided for this purpose and tightened, thus protecting the connection against unintentional opening and securing the process in the best possible way.

The PharmaLok plastic clamp can be integrated into almost all systems and processes in which Tri-Clamp connections are used. Tri-Clamp connections have been an established and safe standard in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry for many years, so there are numerous possible applications. They range from simple WFI transfers to complex filtration processes in which they are used to connect the fluid filter. As the PharmaLok clamp can be used several times, it is a cost-effective alternative for many applications in addition to its technical advantages.

The PharmaLok clamp is also available as a pure single-use version, which cannot be opened once it has been closed. This variant is particularly suitable for single-use assemblies and connections that have to remain closed throughout the entire process and need to be secured.
