Informationen about Carboys

The carboys are available in sizes from 2,5 to 75 liters, which allows to use them for a broad range of applications. Polypropylene is the standard material for the carboys because its abilities enable the usage in many different processes. It can be gamma sterilized and autoclaved and also offers a good chemical resistance.

In general, our carboys are available in the following materials:

• Polypropylene
• HDPE
• PETG
• Polycarbonate

The material of the carboys has been tested and certified extensively. Among other conformities, it complies to the requirements of the USP Class VI and FDA, is free of Bisphenol A and animal contents. All carboys are shipped with a batch-related certificate of conformance.

Due to their angular-shape, the EZBio® and EZgrip® carboys have an excellent handling and can be stored with minimum space requirements. It is easily possible to store a large number of bottles side by side on a shelf, without wasting large amounts of precious storage space, as is would be the case with round carboys.

All carboys are shipped with a VersaCap® cap by default. This is a special type of the closure, which allows a particularly simple and ergonomic handling due to its optimized design. Besides the standard closure, there are many other types of VersaCaps® available. For example, a cap with adapters for multiple tubing. In addition to the carboys with VersaCap® closure, we also offer carboys with a sanitary flange instead of a closure. The product range covers the sizes 10, 20 and 40 liters, which are all equipped with a 3“ sanitary flange. This means that filling lines can be attached directly to the carboy, which allows a safe filling and minimizes the risk of product loss or contamination. This type of carboy is made of polypropylene and can be autoclaved without any problems.

To ease the transport of heavy large volume carboys, we also offer a special EZgrip® carboy dolly. The frame is made of stainless steel and can carry up to 200 lbs. This dolly has been developed especially for EZBio® and EZgrip® carboys in the sizes 40 and 75 liters and allows to easily transport the filled carboys over long distances. This means the handling and transport of carboys gets notably easier and the working safety of employees increases.
